Cordes B. Kennedy

Cordes Kennedy is a Partner with Murphy & Grantland. His practice focuses on a variety of matters including insurance coverage and bad faith claims, commercial litigation, products liability and premises liability. Cordes comes to Murphy & Grantland with prior experience in corporate and commercial real estate, drafting and negotiating purchase and sale contracts and helping structure corporate entities.

He received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2015 where he was the Senior Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review and a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society (Calhoun Inn), the Peer Mentor Program and the Student Bar Association. Cordes was on the President’s List and the Dean’s List and graduated cum laude. He received the CALI award for Secured Transactions and Advanced Legal Writing, and also received the award for Best Oral Argument in Legal Research and Writing. Cordes graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in Philosophy. While at Clemson, he was listed on the President’s List and the Dean’s List and was a member of the William T. Howell Pre-Law Society and Clemson University Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Cordes proudly represents his alma mater by serving as the President of Clemson Young Alumni for the Columbia/Lexington area, and on the Clemson Young Alumni Council and Professional Development Committee.

Cordes achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and continues to serve scouting through the Congaree District Committee, Boy Scouts of America and various fundraising organizations. He also serves the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division on its Make-a-Wish Committee. In his free time, Cordes enjoys being with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and just about any outdoor activity.
